Black Mountain Tabernacle
Soaring emotional intensity of Jeff Buckley, but filtered through a grittier, dark root damaged lens. Dirt farmer showcases a rare ability to veer between anguished introspection and caustic folk tales.
Black Mountain Tabernacle, formerly known as StoneCabin, has reemerged with a powerful EP titled "Dirt farmer." This release marks not only a musical evolution but also a thematic exploration of societal issues through the lens of dark country, melding elements of country, folk, and rock into a cohesive narrative.
The transition from StoneCabin to Black Mountain Tabernacle was more than just a name change; it signaled a new chapter for the band following the departure of their original rhythm section. With a fresh lineup of seasoned musicians, including Fred Hills on drums and Alfie Weedon on bass, the band found themselves hitting their stride, ready to delve deeper into their artistic vision.
Recorded in Jake Skinner's converted barn studio on the edge of the South Downs in Sussex, England, the EP was engineered and co-produced by Skinner himself. The rustic setting and Skinner's expertise contributed to the EP's rich sonic landscape, setting the stage for the story to unfold.
